VOORDRACHTSPAVILJOEN ( VP )

NEW PROJECT
• world-première at Poetry International Festival Rotterdam 2008.
• second concert-series at the Simeon ten Holt festival. 12,13 and 14 september 08. ( museum Kranenburgh, Bergen, North Holland ) - production: Foundation Roer ( Ilonka Verdurmen )

• This pavilion is mainly built for solo- and duo-piano concerts.
Architecture, design, sculpture and performance join together. In this way various disciplines form a so called: “total-sculpture”. The performance is inevetible. Audience is sitting all around and close to the musician. Truly we can see a dialogue between performing musician and listining audience.
The pavilion can be seen as a reaction to the FOURGRANDPIANOPAVILION
( 4GPP, 2004 ). In the 4GPP the audience is situated in the centre,the 4 pianists are placed in the corners of the tent. In the RECITAL-PAVILION the musician is the middle-point. This is the “classical setting”.
The acoustics are strongly related with the 7000 kilos oak-deckings that are used, in 7 layers gradated around the middle-floor, the audience in several levels on top of it; resonances reach us via our bottoms as well.
Two steel bows span the whole.
Studio Dré Wapenaar is presenting this pavilion with a wide range of pianists.
From Ivo Jannssen, Polo de Haas, Kees Wieringa, Jeroen van Veen,Bastiaan Brink, Robert Lambermont to Rita Knuistingh Neven and Reinier van Houdt. Focussed on minimal and contemporary music from Steve Reich, Philip Glass, John Adams, Terry Riley and Simeon ten Holt in relation to the old masters.
Studio Dré Wapenaar is co-operating with festivals and events in these, to relate recitals with the theme of the organizing festival.


• In het paviljoen komen beeldende kunst, ontwerp, architectuur en voordracht bij elkaar.
Verschillende disciplines vormen zo een “totaalsculptuur”.
De voordracht is een onvermijdelijke gebeurtenis. Het publiek zit van alle kanten rondom de muzikant.
Je kunt met recht spreken van een dialoog tussen uitvoerend muzikant en toehorend publiek.

• Het paviljoen is een reactie op het Viervleugelpaviljoen ( VVP, 2004 ). In het VVP zit het publiek centraal en zijn de vier pianisten naar de
hoeken van de tent verplaatst. In het Voordrachtspaviljoen is de muzikant het middelpunt. Dit is de “ klassieke” setting.
De akoestiek komt grotendeels van de 7 ton eikenhouten vloeren die erin verwerkt zijn, in 7 lagen geschakeerd rond de middenvloer,
het publiek op verschillende niveaus er bovenop; de resonanties bereiken ook via het zitvlak de mens.
Twee stalen bogen overspannen het geheel.

• Studio Dré Wapenaar werkt op het grensgebied van architectuur, design en beeldhouwkunst. Beeldhouwen vormt de basis.
Werken met beelden, gepresenteerd in een driedimensionale context, betekent omgang met mensen die in en om het werk heen bewegen
en die ermee worden geconfronteerd. In het geval van een tent wordt deze beweging uitgebreid naar mensen die ook om elkaar draaien.
Het werk is het resultaat van een onderzoek naar de wijze waarop groepen en individuele mensen zich tot elkaar verhouden.
Tenten, met de universele taal die ze spreken, geven bij uitstek de mogelijkheid om deze verhouding op diverse manieren vorm te geven.

• The RP comes in a normal-sized 20' sea-container.

• You don't need a crane to assemble the work. The job can be done in 2 days.

• No complicated technical-installations are required.

• The covering is made from a transparent-plastic with a pattern of wires in it, MC quality.
